Number 10: New Department for Energy Security & Net Zero Announced
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement that the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy will be separated, he has introduced the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, with Rt Hon Grant Shapps to head the department as Secretary of State.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is focused on the energy portfolio from the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The new department is set to provide dedicated leadership focused on delivering security of energy supply, ensuring properly functioning markets, greater energy efficiency and the creation of new green industries to lead the UK to Net Zero.
