Improving BP Chemical's operational
efficiency with live activity and resource updates
Saltend Chemical Park is home to some of BP’s most innovative operations including manufacturing acetic acid for a variety of products such as paints, adhesives and solvents. With more and more devices connected to the Internet, the company were looking to access critical facility data in real time to drive operational efficiencies.
The challenge
Operators need to visually assess the status of BP’s resources, equipment, facilities and personnel in real time, across multiple locations. BP wanted to improve the visibility of large teams of personnel during projects and turnarounds (TAR) to improve safety and operational efficiency.
The solution
Veolia uses cutting-edge management solutions to deliver cost savings through resource efficiency and optimisation of systems and processes.
We designed and installed a cloud-based online system for BP’s permit offices and Veolia TAR offices. It was fitted in eight hours pre TAR and programmed and tested prior to going live.
The cost-effective system provides real-time planning and visibility of operations. It also improves productivity, planning and communications with ability to foresee any excess or shortage of resources.
Value delivered
Veolia partnered with specialist suppliers to develop a customised programme for BP in just 8 weeks, significantly enhancing turnaround and improving operator safety.
