Increased recycling rates, reporting
and improved health & safety for Intu Merry Hill

Intu Merry Hill is a large multi-function shopping complex situated in Dudley, West Midlands. The centre comprises of shops and eateries all of which are household names.

The challenge

Intu Merry Hill had historically used a broker/FM partner to handle and manage waste which had led to various collection partners being involved in the removal of waste from site. To resolve problems with this approach Intu Merry Hill management looked for a single supplier with a local depot who could manage the waste streams more effectively.

The solution

To meet the needs of the centre and service levels Veolia designed a new service that delivers all of the required services from the local service centre in Birmingham and is supported by Veolia Darlaston site for the recycling.

The shopping centre has a local account manager who is available for weekly, monthly or quarterly meetings and this improved communication and helped with the smooth transition of services.

Regular meetings enable feedback on the service provided or invoice issues and general queries, and is also used as a platform to discuss innovation and improvement.

Value delivered

Veolia has implemented significant changes to on-site waste handling processes across the resort’s buildings and facilities, increased recycling rates and user awareness and helped return cost savings and an improved service for the venue.
