Waste and recycling collections taking place across the city as normal

Residents are advised to continue to place their bins/boxes out as normal for collection, however the service is disrupted in some areas due to icy roads and pavements.

Where a collection hasn’t taken place, residents are advised to leave their bins/boxes out until they are emptied  as crews will continue to visit each day. Residents are also asked to place their containers at the kerbside wherever possible to help collection crews.

Extra crews worked over the weekend and will continue to work this week to collect any remaining and planned bins/boxes not emptied due to the icy conditions.

Francis Drew, Contract Manager at Veolia said: "We've been able to catch up a large portion of the backlog over the weekend and are operating a normal service today, with only minor disruption in some small pockets where conditions haven't improved. We're working closely with the Amey gritting team to prioritise these streets so we can return to these areas as quickly as possible."

"We'd like to thank residents for their patience and understand this situation is frustrating. However I can assure everyone that our priority is resuming a full normal collection service as quickly as we can."

Due to using additional collection trucks during this period, residents awaiting their recycling bin and box collection are advised that these may be emptied by different crews in different vehicles. If this is the case this is recorded and the second crew to collect the other recycling container will empty these as quickly as possible.
