Sustainability Commitments 2020

Earth and clouds

We have long been recognised as a leader in sustainability - and today we take the next steps with 10 sustainable commitments to preserve and protect the environment for future generations and support our people.

These 10 commitments are bourne from a reflection on what it means to be a responsible and sustainable business. Building on the success of previous plans, which put us on track to profitable and sustainable growth, Veolia has never been so well-positioned to strengthen and intensify its action.

During a period of turbulence with COVID-19 pressures and the climate emergency, Veolia is ready to fully face up to its responsibility and play its part in helping society rise to these emerging challenges.

Our 10 Sustainable Commitments

Targetting the environment, our commitments support the Government's Resources and Waste Strategy, the Heat in Buildings plan and the Climate Change Committee's recommendation for an end to peat in compost. We outline our quadruple carbon pledge, commitment to biodiversity and low carbon decentralised energy.

In supporting our people, our commitments focus on training and development for all employees, with a particular focus on those in entry-level roles enabling them to grow and progress. We place focus on building an inclusive culture within our organisation.

power point on sustainability
To truly make a difference we need to look after nature and the precious resources it provides, we need the most talented and engaged minds helping us to drive performance and innovate, and we need customers who trust us to do the right thing for their communities.
